TEDxZurich is organized by a group of people who are passionate about the concept and about inspiring ideas.
Thierry Blancpain, Design. Thierry is a designer working as a freelancer and on various self-initiated projects. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication from the University of the Arts Bern. He twitters as @blancpain.
Urs Bucher, Sponsoring. Urs was one of the key persons in building up Microsoft’s Swiss partner network in the nineties. After that he successfully led the sales & marketing efforts of Namics AG, the leading Swiss web consultancy from 2000 – 2008. Since then Urs acts as the head of online properties for KPMG Europe. He has an excellent network in the Swiss ICT industry and occasionally twitters as @ursbucher.
Christine Corbett, Speakers. Christine is working on her PhD in Astrophysics at the University of Zurich and is co-founder of Kliq.in, a mobile application for connecting people via personal introductions. She holds a Master’s degree in Astrophysics from the University of Zurich and dual Bachelor’s degrees from MIT in Physics and Computer Science. Ioana Dabacan, Logistics. Ioana is a Computer Science engineer that started her professional experience in a start-up called Digilent Ro. In her search for new challenges, she joined in 2009 the Hardware Accelerators team of IBM Research Zurich. Interested to see the big picture, she is currently also pursuing a business master in Management, Technology, and Economics at ETH Zurich. In her free time she enjoys rock climbing with her friends and dancing salsa.
Tim Dührkoop, Co-Host. Tim holds a Master’s degree and a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen. He is a partner with the leading Swiss web consultancy Namics AG, founded their German subsidiary and headed the Swiss operation until 2006. For four years he worked for Publicitas AG in several management functions in Zurich and New York, and is back with Namics since 2010. He twitters as @tdu.
Carola Ettenreich, Hospitality & Speakers. Graduated in music and cultural management, Carola always enjoyed working in entrepreneural environments and newly founded projects, be it theater, consumer goods or online storage. She loves organizing, planning and keeping things together. Carola doesn’t twitter but follows as @creola.
Brigitte Federi, Storytelling. Brigitte works at the online publisher and web agency Blogwerk, specialising in social media. She is also a student of translation and a volunteer at the TED Open Translation Project. She spends her free time with her family, preferably at the lake or in the mountains. She twitters as brigitte_zh.
Dania Gerhardt, Co-Host. Dania is a co-founder of Amazee Labs, a web agency specialized in community solutions. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Basel and worked as an auditor and accounting consultant at KPMG. She is very well connected in the Swiss web industry and initiator of the event series Web Monday Zurich and StartupCamp Switzerland. She occasionally twitters as @daniagerhardt.
Peter Hogenkamp, Advisor. Peter received a Master’s degree and a Doctorate in Information Management from the University of St. Gallen. He started the internet companies Zeix (usability) and Blogwerk (social media), both became national leaders in their respective fields. Recently, he joined the Neue Zürcher Zeitung to head the new department for digital media. He twitters as @phogenkamp.
Lea Montini, Location. Lea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from the University of the Arts Zurich and works as a projectmanager in the designteam at SRF. Her interest for careful design, authentic places and good food prompted her to start a blog called Lea Montini’s Things. She twitters as @leamontini.
Markus Popp, Participants. Markus is a passionate online entrepreneur – he works as a managing partner for his own consulting company offering expertise in digital strategy, technology and development of new business models. He holds a Master’s degree of the Swiss Federal Instiute of Technology, where he co-founded tilllate.com back in 2000 and developed it to the leading events website. His spare time is dedicated to sports activities, flying Piper aircrafts, reading and travelling.
Hugo Schotman, Production. Hugo is the User Experience Lead at local.ch. He has worked at IT and consulting firms like Cambridge Technology Partners, Accenture and Unic as engineer, consultant and User Experience Architect. Hugo has attended several TED and TEDx conferences. He contributes to TED’s causes for example by translating TEDtalks through the Open Translation Project. He twitters as hschot.
Guy Spier, Advisor. Guy did his MBA at the Harvard Business School (class of 1993) and has a First Class degree in PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics) from Oxford University, where he studied at Brasenose College. For the past 12 years, he has managed the Aquamarine Fund.
Martin Steiger, Legal & Finance. Martin is an independent attorney-at-law focused on IP/IT/media law and labor law with a Master’s degree from the University of St.Gallen (HSG) and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Zürich. As an aviation enthusiast, he holds pilot licenses, works with Swiss air navigation provider Skyguide and published in air law. His personal website is martinsteiger.ch; he blogs – among other things – about direct democracy and twitters as @martinsteiger.
Oliver Süess, Speakers. Oliver currently works as a communication consultant for various organizations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Zurich in Communication and Media Sciences, Ethics and Psychology. Most of his time is devoted to bass, blues riffs, spaceships and his band Suns of Saturn.
Michael Walther, Media Relations. Michael worked as journalist and is experienced in public relations with a large Swiss NGO. Since October 2011 he works at Bernet_PR in Zurich. Michael holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary History and Sociology. He blogs on bernetblog.ch and twitters at @emwea.
